About Rappahannock River Adventure Programs
At Rappahannock River Adventure Programs (RRAPS), the river comes first. Our mission is simple: to help people experience the beauty of the Rappahannock responsibly while ensuring its waters, wildlife, and surrounding environment remain protected for generations to come.
For nearly a century, our family has lived alongside the Rappahannock. We’ve fished its waters, walked its banks, and witnessed the changing seasons of this river we call home. That history has given us more than just knowledge—it has given us a deep sense of responsibility. Every trip we guide is rooted in the same respect and care that has sustained our family’s relationship with the river for decades.
When you join us on the water, whether kayaking, canoeing, tubing, or hiking, you’re not just taking part in an outdoor adventure. You’re stepping into a living classroom. Our guides share the story of the Rappahannock’s ecosystems, the importance of its conservation easements, and simple, practical ways you can help protect its wildlife and waterways.
RRAPS was founded on the belief that access and stewardship go hand in hand. By giving people the opportunity to paddle, explore, and connect with the river, we also give them the tools to become its advocates. No new development will ever touch the protected lands we access, and our programs are designed to leave no trace—only lasting memories.
This river has shaped generations in our family. And with every guest we guide, our hope is that it shapes you too—not just as an adventurer, but as a caretaker of one of Virginia’s most vital natural treasures.
